MIC, Deptts of Correctional Administration and Non-Conventional Energy Sources
Sri Shankar Chakravorti, the newly elected MLA from Balurghat Assembly Constituency has taken charge of the Deptt of Correctional Administration as Minister-in-charge in cabinet rank. He has also been entrusted with the newly created Deptt of Non-Conventional Energy Sources. Having done his Masters in Commerce and then Bachelor of Laws Sri Chakravorti started his legal career in 1966 as a lawyer. The sixty-six years old practicing advocate in the district of Dakshin Dinajpur since 1966 has also been conducting cases in different Courts of other districts of North Bengal. Sri Chakravorti has held the posts of Govt Pleader and Public Prosecutor of the erstwhile district of West Dinajpur. Having held the post of railway advocate of erstwhile West Dinajpur District Shri Chakravorti has vast understanding of the criminal justice system which will greatly help improve the affairs of Deptt of Correctional Administrator. Sri Shankar Chakravorti is a visiting faculty of Balurghat Law College and is currently President of District Pleaders and Advocates Bar Association, Balurghta. With his taking command of the Department the access to legal justice of prisoners will be greatly enhanced.
